A 15-year-old boy has been judged to life imprisonment with a lowest period of 16-year period for the homicide of other schoolmate Harvey Willgoose during a lunch period.

The perpetrator stabbed Harvey, also aged 15, into the chest with a weapon at the All Saints Catholic High School in the winter month.

The presiding justice lifted the name suppression restriction on the killer during sentencing at the courthouse.

Family Statement

Harvey's mother expressed she felt "as if a big burden has been lifted off my person" following the sentencing.

The pair of youths had earlier disputed over online platforms in the time before the lethal encounter.

Mrs Willgoose remarked she was pleased the minimum term had been established exceeding the statutory minimum of 15 years.

"My parent has been having medical treatment through the legal process and he just couldn't continue any longer," she said.

Background of the Assault

Leading up to the killing on the third of February, Khan and the deceased had adopted different sides in a separate conflict between additional pupils.

Security footage from the day of the incident showed the killer coming near Harvey in the school yard briefly after noon.

Observers described a situation of "disorder", with those present "fleeing, shouting everywhere" during the brutal incident.

Court Trial

During the legal proceedings, the defendant stated he had not planned to cause death to the deceased or cause him significant damage, asserting he could not recall what had happened.

Prosecutors maintained that he had "desired to demonstrate he was formidable" and "understood exactly what he was doing".

"You were the aggressor and... you proceeded in pain and anger at what you considered to be his disloyalty of your bond," declared the judge during sentencing.

Aftermath

The educational institution released a announcement stating that the student was "deeply remembered every single day by the whole school community".

Investigators highlighted the tragic outcomes of bearing blades, noting that a "momentary decision" can permanently change various lives.

This incident has initiated continuing conversations about youth violence, knife possession, and learning environment safety measures throughout the community.
